About

Luis Miguel Balseca, principal clarinet of the OFS, clarinet teacher at the University of Sonora, founder and director of the international clarinet and saxophone festival of northwestern Mexico, has performed concerts in Europe, the United States, Latin America and Mexico, and is a Royal Global, D’Addario and Veerkamp artist.

Why Royal?

Luis Miguel Balseca performs on the Royal Global Firebird Soprano clarinet, paired with a Firebird barrel with yellow gold ring and a D'Addario X15E mouthpiece. He is also an artist for D'Addario Woodwinds and CasaVeerkamp. When asked why he plays Royal, he shared: "I really like the Royal Global Firebird clarinet since it has a very sweet sound and color, its projection is incredible, and the tuning is what I like the most." Regarding his switch to the brand, he explained: "Because of the tuning — it is the point I liked the most. Now I can tune very well with the woodwinds of the orchestra, with the piano, and the other instruments. The color of the sound is very pleasant — sweet, and a round sound with great presence and projection." Reflecting on the value Royal has brought to his playing, he noted: "It helps me a lot, since everything is easier in terms of sound emission, the air is constant, and I save time in the studio because everything comes out faster."
