About

Dr. Lilly Haley is a clarinetist and Royal Global and D’Addario performing artist who works full time with her husband at B. Corbin Clarinet Products. From 2018 to 2026, she served as a clarinetist in the United States Navy. During tours in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and Norfolk, Virginia, she performed for American and foreign presidents, Pearl Harbor survivors, and military dignitaries, took part in significant cultural events, and collaborated with military bands and schoolchildren around the world. An active member of the contemporary music community, Haley has helped commission works by Eric Mandat, Theresa Martin, Jonathan Russell, Anthony Green, Luke Ellard, Marcus Moore, and Roger Zare. Through the New Works Project, she has collaborated with composers and premiered new works for solo clarinet at the International Clarinet Association’s annual ClarinetFest. She has performed in wind ensembles, ceremonial bands, chamber ensembles, orchestras, and jazz ensembles, and as a soloist in Fiji, Brazil, Germany, the United States, and four Hawaiian islands. Her solo engagements include a featured appearance with the Amazônia Jazz Band in Belém, Brazil. Haley holds degrees from the University of New Hampshire, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and Florida State University, where she was a graduate teaching assistant. All of her students have gone on to successful careers in music education.

Why Royal?

Lilly Haley performs on the Royal Global Firebird Soprano clarinet with Firebird and adjustable barrels and a Brian Corbin BC mouthpiece. She is also a D’Addario artist. Asked why she plays Royal, she answers, “Everything!” She has never played an instrument that works so naturally with her physiology and playing style. The Firebird is well constructed and lets her produce her ideal sound without working hard. Before switching, she had not realized how much she was fighting her previous instruments. The Firebird sounded amazing and lets her focus on the music without compensating or compromising. Although the instruments have elevated her experience as a musician, she says their true value lies in the Royal Global community: people who care about doing good, producing and representing quality instruments, and building a supportive, inclusive community.
